Sen. Marsha Blackburn joins discussion on AI, intellectual property and new royalty infrastructure

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A small group of organizations held a “private convening” at Belmont University on Monday afternoon involving the future of artificial intelligence (A.I.) and intellectual property called “From Elvis to Infrastructure — Tennessee Launches AI Royalty Economy."

Attendees included leaders from across Tennessee’s government IP, technology, cybersecurity and other creative sectors, including authors, actors, athletes, artists and attorneys. The meeting also included remarks from U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn.

In March 2024, Gov. Bill Lee signed the ELVIS Act into law to protect music and Tennessee artists from the copyright theft of A.I.

Under the ELVIS Act, Monarrch demonstrates how IP holders can receive payments through its “authorized and auditable infrastructure,” according to a press release from Belmont University. Monarrch, according to its website, is “the world’s first AI Royalty Operating System” that “secures permissions when creative works are used to train models and pay royalties when new outputs are generated.”

“Monarrch has developed a patent-pending OS that encodes a creator’s name, image, likeness, voice, and artistic signature into a secure, verifiable digital asset. This enables tracking, licensing, and monetization across any platform, in any territory, within any form of generative work,” the press release states.
